This has been an incredible year for the legal cannabis industry – and not just in the United States.
Canada recently made history by becoming the first industrial nation in the world to pass legislation that allows adults to purchase marijuana. On October 17th, it will open the door for billions in sales.
The perception towards cannabis is changing nearly everywhere. In the US, 93% of respondents to a survey want to legalize medical cannabis. Unfortunately, it’s still classified as a schedule I substance, along with LSD and heroin, despite the medical benefits it offers to help alleviate symptoms of illnesses.
However, many other nations have approved medical marijuana. A total of 30 counties have given the green light to medical cannabis in some capacity. Here are those 30 countries:
Argentina | Germany | Netherlands |
Australia | Greece | Norway |
Canada | Israel | Peru |
Chile | Italy | Poland |
Colombia | Jamaica | Romania |
Croatia | Lesotho | San Marino |
Cyprus | Luxembourg | Switzerland |
Czech Republic | Macedonia | Turkey |
Denmark | Malta | Uruguay |
Finland | Mexico | Zimbabwe |
You’ll likely notice that Europe has the most countries that support medical marijuana legalization. The Netherlands, Greece, Italy, Norway, Romania, Poland have all legalized medical marijuana. In France, Spain and Slovenia, the use of cannabis for some medical conditions is also permitted.
Medical cannabis will likely continue to expand in the years ahead. Do YOU support the legalization of medical marijuana in the United States?
